A kitchen designed by Kitchen Mania Designer Laura Ellis was chosen as a finalist in the TIDA International Kitchen of the Year awards for 2022

Laura's kitchen was one of 48 finalists in this category and a crown favourite, especially for the home owners who get to enjoy and love this space in their family home.

The owners had undergone a big renovation of their bungalow, with two kids they wanted a space that they could enjoy cooking/baking with their children plus entertain family and friends.

They had a clear idea of the look and style they wanted to achieve, which was fresh and modern including pastel colours to keep inline with the retro 60/70s vibe that would suit the period features of the house.

Design features include:

  • Melteca Spinifex was the soft close cabinetry colour, with Melteca Seal Grey and Trendstone Cala Grigo Worktop and Splashback.  The Melteca Aged Ash open wall unit also provides the perfect display for decorative items and plants
  • The Uno Brass handles and tap were added to break the colour up and add extra interest to the overall look, with no handles and finger grip opening to the wall units to keep it sleek
  • Cool under wall unit LED strip light
  • Three rattan pedant lights to keep the retro feel
  • The hob & hidden powerpack was central to the back wall units to give equal cooking space eitherside of it, with their French door fridge and double oven on either end to have an easy workflow around the kitchen.
  • With added equal size broom cupboard and everyday use pantry on the backwall to keep the symmetry.
  • The island houses all the cleaning needs such as white undermount sink, dishwasher and built-in bins and a drawer pack with cutlery tray.
  • The built-in cabinetry to the right of the kitchen was to be multi-functional, storing baking items and open shelves to store household appliances.
